A delightful repousse silver chatelaine compact.  This pretty compact is hallmarked HM (H Matthews) Birmingham 1901.  It was most likely used for rouge rather than as a powder compact.  This delicate compact has repousse scrolls on both sides with circular cartouches on both sides.  On the front is a plain cartouche and on the reverse side is a cartouche with the hallmark and makers mark as well as the single initial 'S'.

The chatelaine compact is in excellent condition with some age related surface wear.  Please examine the photos for more detail.
