A stunning Art Deco continental silver and enamel compact vanity case/minaudiere. This fabulous vanity case comprises an oval body of black enamel highlighted at the ends with a geometric design in white which contrasts beautifully with the silver. It has a cord wrist handle and a full tassle attached at the base. Inside opens to reveal an elegant silver gilt finish and on one side two compartments - the small compartment was for powder and has the original puff. Next to this there is a larger compartment. There is a full length mirror which pulls forward to reveal a further secret compartment. It is stamped 900 which is continental silver - the stamp is on the edge of the second compartment and is visible when you open it. It is a wonderful example of Art Deco glamour.
The black enamel body has surface scratches. There is an area of missing enamel to the white geometric design at one end. There are a number of tiny indents at each end of the vanity case - one of which is deeper than the others. Inside the mirror is in great condition with light surface scratches. The small powder well opens to reveal the original puff. The second compartment opens as you open the vanity case and is less firm to close. The mirror pulls forward to reveal its original cover and closes firmly. The continental silver marks are very clear.
It is a wonderful and unusual compact vanity case/minaudiere.
