A superb 1930's powder compact by Richard Hudnut, USA.  This is the Champleve compact vanity case and features a powder well, a compartment with rouge and an integral lipstick holder complete with lipstick. The top has a black enamel design with a brass filigree pattern overlaid.  The design is reminiscent of the art nouveau period with stylised flowers and foliage.  The compact opens up to reveal two powder puffs with Richard Hudnut stamped on them in a blue colour slotted neatly under their two gold tone holders.  The powder well  is empty.  Lift the rouge puff to reveal a full rouge compartment.  Next to the rouge compartment is a thin integral lipstick holder complete with original lipstick.

The gold tone body of the compact has surface scratches as per the photographs. The mirror is showing some fogging and silvering but is useable. The original puffs are in good condition.  The powder well is empty.  The rouge well is full.  The lipstick holder works well and has the original lipstick still present - it is not in good condition. The clasp works well and shuts with a firm click. It is a wonderful example of an early powder compact.
