A fabulous 1950's Stratton, England Party Case. This is an early example of the bag that was made by Stratton between 1952 and the early 1960's. It is made of gold tone metal with a silk lined interior which is edged in gold. Inside is fully fitted and holds the signature Stratton 'slab' shaped compact and a 'pontoon' shaped cigarette case. The exterior of the case and the compact and cigarette case are in a matching transfer print design. The striking design is a black background with gold leaf/foliage and flowers. The handle is a linked chain in gold tone. Originally the party case would have a comb and lipstick.
The Stratton party case is in great condition with some minimal wear to the transfer printing on the back of the bag and some minimal wear to the transfer printing on the compact and cigarette case. The compact is in good order with a couple of spots of silvering to the top of mirror. It closes with a firm click. The cigarette case is in good order and closes with a firm click. The original comb and lipstick are missing. The silk lining has some light marks commensurate with use. The gold tone frame and chain has some tarnishing.
